Rita's home is a gem and our stay there was incredible! Our group of 14 friends meets every year at a different location to spend a week together cooking, lounging and exploring. Latas Country House was the perfect home base and one of the most beautiful properties we have stayed yet. The house and grands are vast, with endless private nooks and spaces to enjoy alone or in smaller groups, as well as several large, comfortable communal areas. The kitchen is incredibly well-equipped for preparing anything you could imagine, though the allure of the great BBQ and outdoor dining space meant we spent many nights grilling instead. The pool area is phenomenal, with stunning views and a very convenient pool house/ bar. We spent countless hours here and you will want to as well. You can tell that Rita has spent a lot of time loving this house and imbuing it with tasteful, understated ambiance. The finishes are beautiful, the warm wood and creaky floorboards authentic and inviting. The beds are comfortable, the linens crisp and clean. The garden is bursting with fresh fruits and vegetables ripe for the picking. The entire experience felt indulgent and elegant without being ostentatious. Exactly as you would want a week at a manor in the Portuguese countryside to feel! Rita herself was a delightful host as well, very discreet and easy-going but always there to help if we needed anything. Don't miss the local kayaking adventures, the short walk to the river beach, or the charming streets of nearby Coimbra. And definitely don't miss out on a stay at lovely Lastas Country House. Absolutely one of a kind!

The old villa is really something special. 3 floors of 100 years of Portugese Olive Oil production history situated in a beautiful and away from it all landscape. The newer part of the estate including the large pool and the shadow beds make this place something very special and beautiful. 9 bedrooms and sufficient bathrooms makes the place ideal for large groups or the big family fiesta. The images are beautiful but the property is even better! Rita walks the extra mile for making the stay even better. She has broad knowledge of local activities including cayaking and rural visits. Make sure not to miss her making a three course dinner for the complete party. She loves to arrange winetasting, trips or other activities. Make sure you don´t miss the beautiful restored windmills on the hill, the O Burgo old medieval castle and monastry, the wine tasting nor the beautiful river beaches. Rita will love to show you the way.
Perfect house for a large group of friends
If you're looking for a beautifully-furnished, visually-stunning house in idyllic surroundings and a chance to sample the real Portugal then you won't find a better place than Latas Country House. The house easily accommodates a large group of people - 15 of us with ages ranging from 10 to 50+ easily fitted in and the pool is large enough for everyone to enjoy. Poolside, there's even a cafe/bar with a stocked fridge full of drinks. Even after a sumptuous fortnight stay, the house and extensive grounds still delighted with nooks and crannies for the children to explore and for the parents to siesta in. Rita, the owner is always on hand with advice and tips. She organised a day out kayaking on the Mondego River which the children absolutely loved. We all adored our stay.

Dream Retreat Venue
As a yoga retreat venue I would highly recommend Latas, the vibe of the house is both positive and calming, the peace of the surrounding area, the opportunities for nearby trips, or simply a walk to the river or around the tiny village are an excellent add on to a perfect setting. Rita and her family are absolutely delightful, so welcoming!
